Another trip to the pedi

Ethan had to go back for a check up today to his pediatrician's office and while his ear infection has finally gone away (after 4.5 weeks) he still has a sinus infection. He is on yet another antibiotic (it's like a little kid version of the Z-pak), a steroid to try and get the inflammation in his lungs down, and they sent us home with a nebulizer and albuterol to use twice daily. He absolutely cannot stand the nebulizer, it took dh and I both to hold him down to breathe the medicine in for about 5 minutes. He screamed and jerked his head and body around, I don't know if I can do this every day. It literally broke my heart to see him like that even though I know it doesn't hurt him at all.

Well, we are fiiiiiiinally home from the pediatrician's office. The whole visit was just a little crazy. When we got there Ethan already needed a nap so he was being goofy and loud. She checked his ear and said, "yep, definitely a worse infection all I can see is pus". After the ears, she was listening to his chest and she said he was wheezing so she decided to give him a breathing treatment with a nebulizer while we were there. Ethan hated it, he screamed and cried and fought with for the whole 5-7 minutes they said it would take for all the medicine. After the breathing treatment the pedi came back in and decided that since the breathing treatment worked and his respiration rate was lower that he has asthma. After this diagnosis, she concluded that he needed a flu shot. The flu shot was actually the least traumatic part of the whole visit. He didn't even shed a tear. On the way home however we decided to stop by Target so we could get some dipes and then go ahead and get his prescriptions filled. He is now on Augmentin (to try and get rid of the ear infection), Flocin (I think an ear drop antibiotic), and Albuterol (as needed for wheezing and other symptoms of asthma)!!! We had such a fun day and I'm hoping it gets better and we don't hear back from the pedi because the did a culture swab of his ear to make sure there wasn't anything else going on in there. We have to go back in 2 weeks and if the ear infection is gone by then, we have to do the antibiotic shots 3 days in a row and got back to the ENT doctor.
